Holla Saturday to All!
This weekend we have a new place for all of you to check out if you have yet to!
I am no-food-guru but someone who loves to eat all kinds of food all the time! – read on for more
Congrats for those who often have to travel miles across the border just to have your cravings satisfied! Resort World Sentosa (RWS) has gathered the best of Malaysia’s hawkers all under one roof in it’s very own Malaysian Food Street.
Malaysian Food Street is located just beside Universal Studio Singapore (USS) and right across Hershey’s. While you decided to take a day off work for some fun at USS, don’t forget to pop by to try some famous Malaysian delicacies.
Since their opening on 12th January 2012, Malaysian Food Street has been well appreciated by the locals and the tourists in the area. Set in the 1950s-styled themed coffee shop, with fully air-conditioned facilities, you are bound to spend at least an hour or two savouring the awesome street food.
There are a total of 17 stalls at Malaysian Food Street and prices range starting from $4 onwards. Satisfy your tummy first, think about your wallets later!
What’s good you may wonder..

Huen Kee Claypot Rice – worth the wait!
Claypot Chicken Rice $6
Claypot Chicken Rice with Salted Fish $7
It’s to be said that Huen Kee was chosen among the 10 different claypot rice places in Malaysia by the team. Check out below – Using traditional stoves and charcoal to cook their claypot chicken rice. Coals are placed on the top of the claypot, purpose is to maintain the moisture and flavor of the dish! The rice, marinated chicken and other ingredients like ‘lap cheong’ are cooked directly in the clay pot on a charcoal stove. Now you should at least understand what I mean by “it’s worth the wait!”

Although I really waited for up to an hour, it was worth it because this has to be one of the favourite dishes that I tried over there! Just pass time by ordering some other dishes in between while waiting.
Rate: 8/10
Famous Jalan Alor KL Hokkien Mee
$6
With the right proportion of light and dark soya sauces, the noodles are stir-fried with prawns, lean pork, squid and cabbage. The thick udon-noodles is different from the kind of Hokkien Mee you come across in Singapore, mix it together with the chilli belachan that will be served and taste the authentic version of hokkien mee.
Worth the try, and although the queue is often long, they serve their noodles quite fast! You can stand by the side and watch the chef at work, he handles two woks at the same time
There are other several dishes that I have heard that’s worth the try, however I have yet to:
Fung Wong Confectionery from Kuala Lumpur
Been a household name since it started out in the early 1900s. It sells more than 20 varieties of traditional Cantonese pastry now. Famous what’s popular would be the egg tarts, kaya puffs and baked char siu bao. Do some research online and you will know that if you are a pastry-lover, you would make the trip down to try them out:)
Petaling Street Famous Porridge from Kuala Lumpur
Having started after WWII, the recipe has been passed down for three generations over 60 years. The stall in KL is open daily from 4am to 2pm. The chef often prepares the ingredients for at least three hours everyday. While it is being cooked for another two hours, it is stirred to break down the grains. Try their crispy pig intestine and pork porridge as it has been known to be famous!
Ah Mei Hokkien Prawn Mee from Penang
A big fan of Prawn mee, here’s another stall selling a few hundreds of bowls a day, they often spend hours preparing their ingredients before opening for business. It’s heard that the owner, has been invited to recreate her dish in Macau and Singapore. Okay, now I really got to try this the next time I’m there!
After you have settled your dinner, what’s next?
Desserts of course, to complete your night!
Penang Chendol
$2.50
Another favourite among the other desserts, however if you aren’t a Chendol fan, you can try the famous Ice Kachang too! This is one word – fabulous! Not the same kind of Chendol that you can find at Hawker centres, this is made from scratch and tastes even better! I wouldn’t mind paying a few cents more to have this in my tummy
Perfect for a humid weather!
